This presentation details how to identify opportunities for improved drawing practices and how these practices can shape your facility’s ability to maintain and evaluate Process Safety Information (PSI).
Hundreds of thousands of PSI data points are stored on various types of drawings at a given petrochemical facility. By utilizing “intelligent drawing” practices, these data points can be effectively maintained and properly evaluated to aid in the implementation of all other aspects of a successful Process Safety Management (PSM) program.
PSI data points on drawings may include equipment and instrumentation identification numbers, equipment design specifications, valve information, piping identification and specification, revision history, stream information, pipe fitting information, instrument location and settings, and many more.

Matt Leos has over six years of experience in Process Safety Management (PSM) related to project execution in the Oil and Gas Industry. He served as the Line of Service Lead for the Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) department at Provenance Consulting. His expertise is in Process Safety Information (PSI) data management, software development and implementation, and CAD.
He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas and is an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) within the State of Texas.
